Although it’s important to protect your computer from electrical mishaps, it’s even more important to protect yourself. Among measures to ensure your personal workspace is safe:
- Sufficient workspace to accommodate the system unit and provide enough air circulation for the electrical equipment
- Uncarpeted workspace to avoid electrostatic discharge
- Positioned to avoid accidents (like tripping over wires) and a safe distance from heavy electrical equipment
- Free of dust; a filtered air system can reduce dust and other contaminants
- Proper grounding of AC electrical current
- Cool stable temperatures and a humidity level of around 50% to reduce the likelihood of electrostatic discharge (ESD)
