Internal Components

The most important component in a power supply is the fan. When the power supply converts AC electricity to DC electricity, it generates a lot of heat. In addition, a computer's other electrical components also generate heat. If a computer overheats, its components can be damaged and its data can become corrupt.
The power supply fan provides a constant flow of air to maintain a safe temperature inside a computer's case. This flow of air also keeps dust from settling on important components. Other major internal components of a power supply device include the Regulator, Rectifier, Resistors, Capacitors, and Transformers.
