Expansion Socket

An expansion socket is a terminal on a motherboard that accepts printed circuit boards, called expansion cards. Expansion cards give computers added capabilities that include accelerator boards, internal modems, wireless cards, TV tuners, SATA, USB, and firewire expansion cards.
